Donnie Simpson will recall his early history as a television host of the popular BET cable show Video Soul. WPGC has suffered dramatic decline in listening audience numbers over the past two years, falling out of the top ten of radio stations in the Washington DC area. Simpson's departure will follow the departure of his co-host Chris Paul who left six months ago for WPGC's rival station, Radio One's urban contemporary station WKYS.
The Washington Post reports this morning that radio host Donnie Simpson will be leaving his radio home, DC station WPGC, this Friday due to disagreements with management. Maybe you'll be telling your age if you can remember the days where Donnie Simpson's green eyes smiled out at you as you happily watched BET's Video Soul in eager anticipation.
Simpson has been offered syndication deals, but he refuseshis show is firmly grounded in the DC area. Last summers gala celebrating Simpsons 30th anniversary on Washington radio was a benefit for the scholarship fund.
